Överums Bruk, grundat 1655, är ett av totalt elva järnbruk under 1700 och 1800-talen i Tjust. Brukets och senare även samhällets placering på kartan avgjordes av tillgången på vattenkraft, skog och järnmalm.
Tillverkning av kanoner och kanonkulor är numera utbytt mot högteknologiska jordbruksmaskiner.

Överums Bruk, founded 1655, is one of a total of eleven iron foundries in Tjust during the 18th and 19th centuries. The place for the foundry and later also the whole community was given by the availability of iron ore, waterfalls and forest.
Manufacturing of cannons and cannon balls has now changed to high-tech farming machinery.
