Geocache Description:

A quick cache celebrating the FIRST LITCHFIELD HILL ROAD RACE, June 1977. Enjoy this quick cache off one of the Road Race Trails located on White Memorial Foundation.

"Based on the famous race in Falmouth, Massachusetts, the Litchfield Hills Road Race course was plotted, runners were invited, volunteers recruited, and in 1977 the first Litchfield Hills Road Race was underway. One of the most exceptional things about this small town race is that a Bill Rodgers and an Ovidio DeRubertis can run the same course at the same time and receive equal measuers of appreciation from the fans who line the streets and who have, from day one, made this race loved by those who are sweating out the seven mile course." (excerpt from www.lhrr.com) Today more than a thousand runners run this race. And thousands (wuster2 being in that category) cheer the runners on. Much of the race goes through and passes by the many trails of White Memorial Foundation. This cache ( a medium Lock n Lock) is hidden a few feet off a trail. Follow well worn trails! No bushwhacking necessary. The area has a lot of marshy wet land. Grab the cache and run or walk to several other caches that are close by. Create your own race! Take a run! Take a walk! Enjoy caching for the fun of it!
