Geocache Description:

The cache is located on Rinsey Head, West of Porthleven in South West Cornwall. Its a 30 minute easy ramble from the East if you park at Rinsey Head car park, and about a 90 minute more energetic, but probably more rewarding hike from Porthleven.

There are 2 ways to go about this cache, both are good, but the 90 minute walk from Porthleven is more picturesque if you have the time to walk there and back. The path either way is on the Cornish Coastal path. The container is toward the very head of Rinsey. Whichever way you choose to get there, you should have a look at some of the old mines and the views to Porthleven. Its also a Chough breeding area but I have never had any luck with catching a sight of this bird. Chee-ow is the call you should be listening for if you have good binoculars and time on your hands.

The cache itself is not too near the cliff edge to make this scary, so no need to send anyone abseiling off the edge. Its a tupperware. This said, as with much of the coastal path, it is near a cliff so bear this in mind if you have young children.

If you choose to come from the West, Rinsey Head car park is at N50 05.725 W005 22.105, as above, its a 1hr round trip from there. From Porthleven you will need to get round the back of the harbour and start the walk on the coastal path. You will soon see where you need to get to. At Porthleven, I can recommend The Ship as a good place to stay dry in the rain or keep cool if its sunny. Its good for any weather really.

Unfortunately I dont live in this place. This cache is maintained by my father in law who lives in the lovely place of Porthleven.

Enjoy. steve
