Geocache Description:

A Banner Forest Walk.

This cache is hidden in wonderful Banner Forest and provides an opportunity for a enjoyable walk along some of its many trails. No bushwhacking needed to find the cache site as the cache is located a short distance off an established trail. If you use the trails we used to the cache site, some of the trail signs you should see along the way are “BANNER SLOUGH”, “SORCERESS HOLLOW” and BLOVIATE”. But our route is not the only way to the cache so let your GPS be your guide as you follow the trails and you’ll get there one way or another.

I suggest parking at the small but adequate parking area near the Northeast corner of the forest. The coordinates for parking are marked with a Banner Forest sign. The round trip distance from the parking lot is about 2.5 kilometers.

You are looking for a painted plastic jar 11.4 centimeters tall and 8.9 centimeters in diameter. The cache contains various small items, two Korean coins(100 and 500 won) and a log book. For the FTF there is an old Canadian two dollar bill with the log book. You will need to bring your own pen to sign the log book. Please put back the cache in the same place and re-hide the cache exactly the way you found it.

My reception at the cache site was spotty with my EPEs ranging from 31 to 36 feet so the coordinates may be a bit off. Also, I noticed that the GPS will settle down and do less bouncing around if you give it some time before searching. If you get some better coordinates please feel free to include them in your log.

For a very good Banner Forest trail map visit the Peninsula Wilderness Club’s Web Page at (visit link). It can be located in Last Minute Trips.

For a Banner Forest Walk trail guide click on the trail guide link to download the guide file to your computer and then load it onto your GPS. (trail guide link). The trail guide is a GPX file with the applicable trails and trailheads that you can follow on your GPS to help guide you to GZ. Be advised that the guide is only an approximation and has only some of the many trails in Banner Forest.
