per che i Pisan veder Lucca non ponno.
Divina Commedia, Inferno, canto XXXIII
Con queste parole pronunciate dal conte Ugolino, Dante descrive nella Divina Commedia il monte San Giuliano, che sorgendo tra Pisa e Lucca impedisce appunto ai pisani la vista di Lucca.
Da qui si può godere di un panorama spettacolare, consigliamo di andarci in una giornata di sole e di fare una bella passeggiata fino sui monti vicini.
Per raggiungere il Passo di Dante potete scegliere due modi:
IN AUTO - da Santa Maria del Giudice, sul versante lucchese dei Monti Pisani. Arrivati in Piazza della Vittoria, seguite la strada per il quagliodromo, non entrateci ma proseguite sempre dritti sulla strada; dopo un breve tratto sterrato arriverete proprio davanti al busto di Dante, dove potrete parcheggiare alle coordinate

A PIEDI - da San Giuliano, sul versante pisano dei monti, alla fine di via Niccolini prendete il sentiero sulla sinistra, proprio sotto l'anfiteatro, da qui si arriva direttamente al ristorante posto all'ingresso del foro. Proseguite sul sentiero sterrato di fianco al ristorante, svoltate a destra fino a raggiungere un cancello; qui andate ancora a destra, e proseguite sempre dritti finchè troverete un bivio vicino a un pino solitario, proseguite a Nord e arriverete al passo di Dante (il tutto prende circa un'ora di tempo e non è nè difficile nè faticoso).

With these words, pronounced from Count Ugolino, Dante describes in the Divine Commedy the mount San Giuliano, than rising between Pisa and Lucca prevents to the pisan people the sight of Lucca.
From here it can be enjoyed a spectacular panorama, we advise to go in one sunny day and to make one beautiful fine walk here on near mounts.
In order to catch up the Straits of Dante you can choose two ways:
IN CAR - from Santa Maria del Giudice, on the lucchese side of the Mounts. When you arrive in Square Vittoria, follows the road for the quagliodromo, not entered in it but continue always straight on the road; after a short off-road you will arrive just in front of the bust of Dante, where you will be able to park to the coordinates

ON FOOT - from San Giuliano, on the pisan side of mounts, to the end of via Niccolini you take the path on the left, just under the amphitheater, from here you arrives directly to the restaurant placed to the entrance of the tunnel. Continued on the path near to the restaurant, turn right until catching up an gate; here still gone to right, and continued always straight until you will find a crossroad near a lonely pine, continued to North and you will arrive to the Straits of Dante (all takes approximately an hour of time and it is not difficult or laborious).
