A park and grab along NF 71 in Somerset. Easy to get to during summer, but the road is closed during the winter.
directions: From vt rt 9 turn north onto Somerset rd. Continue on bearing onto National Forest rt 71. This is a thru road during warm months which continues north until meeting Kelly stand road which runs east/west.
The area: Stewball and I where down here in one of the most remote parts of Vermont to hunt another cache. You know how some people say they where passing thru while doing another cache and found this wonderful spot and just had to put out a cache so others could see it. Well, thats what happened. We took this wrong road on our way to Prime Lines (GC10KZ1). This was where we turned around and corrected ourselves. All the way in,(and out) Stewball kept saying he wanted to see a moose. When we got here I told him if he was going to see one this would be the place. We never did see a moose, but while setting out this cache we did see a blue Heron fly up and perch in the very top on a nearby tree. We also saw many other critters along the roads. (still alive) There where also lots of bugs so come prepared for them as well. This is a little lookout right along side the road. You will only have to walk just a few feet for both the view and the cache. View is handicaped accessable from car but not the cache itself. Maybe a second cache in the area will entice more people to come down and enjoy this place.
The cache: Original film container is gone. (so too the small replacement container) Replaced with a micro pill container for now. Has new log , bring your own pen to write with as it was too small for one. New coords as it was mover a little to try to keep it here,but more as winter friendly.
