Buttermilk falls is a series of three waterfalls along the Branch brook in Ludlow Vt. Many paths crisscross the area as it follows beside the brook. Easy walking with only one small area where you must be careful as climb around the middle falls.
This a short multi cache which has two micros and a small final cache container which contains assorted trade items and five scratch off tickets one for each of the first five finders, plus a log book to record your visit.
This is a fragil ecosystem, so please do not tear it up looking for the stages. No rocks need to be moved, no logs turned or trees damaged to find. Each stage has been placed just far enough away from each of the falls yet on or beside trails to give you some chance of finding if there are people around and if it is even halfway nice there will be. There have been swimmers, fishermen/women, lots of dog walkers and nature lovers walking these trails by the falls. If you are not too noisy and even a little bit stealthy you should not have any trouble and also be able to enjoy to great views of the falls. This is a part of the Okemo state forest which maintains it and has put up small foot bridges over the wet areas for hiking. State permission has been given for this cache to be placed. While your in the area, you may wish to drive up Okemo for the views and also another cache (GC13H27). Also many new caches have been placed in this area recently and are awaiting visits if you chose.
Directions: From Rt 103 north of Ludlow turn on to Buttermilk Falls rd. Continue on to either the first stage where parking is available or continue onward to end of road. It's only .16 miles or so from begining to the end and starts at the lower falls and ends at the upper so parking would be your choice. There are side trails from all of the falls to the main road which is never more than a few hundred feet away from the brook. If it was extremly busy each cache could be reached by direct trails, but then you would miss the whole reason for being here.
PLEASE rehide final conpletly or it will get muggled and right side up also or it might get wet inside. Thanks!
