Geocache Description:

The cache is a regular size container with a log book, pencil, and various trinkets inside INCLUDING a certificate for a free cheeseburger at Gilpatrick's Hotel Chitina for the first to find. Chitina was a former bustling community which housed families of miners and railroad workers for the famous Kennecott Copper Mines in the early 1900's. The Copper River Northerwestern Railroad (jokingly called "Can't Run and Never Will") did in fact run, transporting approximately 200 million dollars worth of copper ore between 1911 and 1938. The railroad ran from Cordova, Alaska up the Copper River to Chitina and onto the the Kennecott mines. If you travel on to McCarthy and the town of Kennicott, you will be driving on the old railroad bed, which was torn apart to construct the McCarthy Road, 59 miles of dirt, and occasional railroad spikes (on the roadside) left over from the "good old days"

The coordinates take you to within 50 feet of this cache. Make sure to view Spirit Mountain and turn around to the rustic front of the Hotel before embarking on your straight ahead search. Great Parking to the front of the Hotel. Rely on instinct and sheer intelligence to get you the rest of the way.
