Llanrhidian Marsh (Llanrhidian) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

iain4724: Gower Explorer are moving house and they will no longer be able to maintain this cache for me so I am archiving it.

I have decided not to ask someone else to look after the cache because I learnt after placing it that permission is required from the National Trust to place here. The member of the National Trust who I spoke to was quite happy to allow the caches on this land but she asked to know where they were and despite the best intentions I confess I didn't get around to telling her and so I feel it would now be unfair to lumber someone else with that task and I'm not going to get around to doing it before Gower Explorer move in a fortnight so archiving seems the best thing to do.

Geocache Description:

Llanrhidian Marsh Series

Series Details

This is the fourth in a series of four caches placed by iain4724 & Gower Explorer along the marsh road connecting Llanrhidian to Crofty on the Gower Peninsula.

  1. Salthouse Point (Crofty)
  2. Llanrhidian Marsh (Crofty)
  3. Llanrhidian Marsh (Wern-halog)
  4. Llanrhidian Marsh (Llanrhidian)

In attempting this series of caches the tide should be considered. I do not believe that you are in any danger but it is possible that on some days the tide will be too high for you to access the caches because the march road can flood.

To avoid disappointment I suggest that before attempting this cache you check the tide times for Swansea (scroll down) on the BBC website and do not attempt any of the caches within an hour of a high tide which is predicted to be greater than 9 Metres. Please note that times are given in GMT all year.

Specific to this cache

It is quite easy to pull off the road by the cache and traffic on this road is very light so stopping should be easy.

Whilst here we recommend you have a look at the country village of Llanrhidian.

Apologies in advance to anyone who gets spiked by the hawthorne. If you are in danger of many lacerations you are probably looking in the wrong spot.
