Cachen er lagt i forbindelse med eventet "Ice Cream Social" søndag d. 17/6 2007

Amager Strand er Københavns nye strand ud mod Øresund. Amager Strand består af stranden langs Amager Strandvej, en lagune, en ø og parkerne 10-øren og 5-øren. Øen er 2 kilometer lang og lagunen er 400 meter på det bredeste sted – det er 4,6 kilometer badekyst og plads til masser af aktiviteter.

Midt på øen på centrale steder ligger strandstationerne 1,2,3 og 5. Det er små betonbygninger med faciliteter som toiletter, brus, handicapfaciliteter og kiosk. Taget på strandstationerne kan også bruges til udkigssted.

Den nye ø er opdelt, så den nordlige ø er formet som et landskab med klitter, mens den sydlige del er anlagt som park. Hele Amager Strand er fredet som et rekreativt område,

Der har været badestrand her på Amagers østkyst siden 1930érne, og den nye strand er anlagt i perioden fra maj 2004 til august 2005.

Ved øens nordlige del bliver badeanstalten Helgoland genopført. Det er Københavns Kommune, der står for genopførelsen af det gamle badeanlæg.

Just five kilometers from the centre of Copenhagen we find Amager Beach, the new city beach with enough space for all kinds of beach life. It serves a densely populated area and is extremely popular in the summer. It is a 4,6 kilometer long bathing beach divided into two parts. The beach on the mainland running along the road of Amager Strandvej and a two kilometer long island, which is connected to the mainland with three bridges. From the island there is a nice view of the Swedish coast, the touchstone and the Oresund Bridge (Check the map in the right margin of the screen).

This is a perfect place to relax with a book, sunbathe, swim or paddle and play with the children. Between the island and the mainland is a lagoon. Here you find children’s beaches with shallow water and a 1000 meter lane for swimmers and rowers among other things.

The island is divided by a point that makes it possible to give the beaches their own distinctive character. The northern part of the island has a more natural wild beach look, with wide sandy beaches and low sand dunes. A winding path takes you through the wild, northern beach down to the southern part where the city beach is.

A wide pier serves as the backbone of the southern part of the island (the city beach). The pier is perfect for a nice stroll along the coast, and you can buy yourself a cup of coffee or an ice cream. The southern part of the island is rounded off with a little marina, where small boats can moor for the day. You can walk directly from the marina to the mainland, where there are two parks for recreational activities. They are called 5øren and 10øren.

There has been a beach on Amager since the 30s. The new island was build from May 2004 to August 2005.
