In my travels, I had always wondered Why this town did not have a cache of it's own. I had tried to place one in town, but by the time I got it ready, someone else placed one at teh same location. So, I found a good location for cross country travelers to stop for a quick cache. While here, take a trip into town adn learn some history. The cache is a Hide-a-key so please bring something to write with.
Battle Mountain has a place in my family’s travel history. Prior to my dad’s retirement from the Navy, we would travel from the bay are Bay area to Salt Lake City, and this was the mid way stop. At the time, the interstate was not here, so you drove though each of the small towns on the way. The Owl Café was the point we would look forward to as the only real chance to get out of the car for a bit.
The cache hiding place is not very original, so should not be a problem. There is big rig parking close by (as I was in one when I placed the cache. Please be respectful to the guest of the local motel while looking for this cache. It should take you longer to sign the log than to find the cache, so spend the rest of the time getting a bite to eat.
