This cache is located just off the Centennial Trail. You will have to park and walk a short distance.
The Clean Water Act of 1972 mandated secondary level municipal waste water treatment. Coeur d' Alenes waste water treatment plant, operational in 1932, is one of the first such plants in the world. Beginning in 1982 the plant has undergone 9 major phases of construction and upgrades. Some of the orginal structure are still in use today. The plant has a capacity of 6 million gallons per day. The plant produces more the 4600 dry pounds of biosolids a day which is mixed with wood chips, composted and then sold.
From where this cache is located you have a good view of the wastewater treatment plant. It is also along one of the newer sections of the Centennial trail that runs beside the Spokane River. A nice place for a run or walk.
