Cache is an ammo can full of lots of little goodies ralated to Les. GPS signal a little bouncy around the trees.
As many of you know, Les Schwab passed away in Prineville, Oregon on May 18th 2007. He was 89 years old. Most everyone in the northwest is aware of his business, but what I wanted to accomplish with this cache was a tribute to the man himself. Les wasn't just a great business man, he was a great man. He was not only our boss, he was our mentor and hero. He stood for the American Dream, that if a young person worked hard they could be succesful. Countless families from across the northwest live better today because of the generosity of this one man.
Les was orphaned at age 15, but by high school he had applied his tremendous work ethic to the newspaper circulation business and was making more than his high school principal. In 1952 he sold his house and borrowed $11,000 and bought the OK Rubber Welders store in Prinville. From the first day he shared his profits with his employees. Today Les shares 50% of all profit with his more than 7,700 employess in seven states.
So I hope you enjoy this cache. It was my pleasure to know Les. I wish each and everyone of you could have met him. There is a special prize for the FTF.
