Geocache Description:

Often hated but often found, a typical micro. You may be able to fit a coin or two in it.

This micro was placed in June of 2007. The state had just completed the reconstruction of the dam here at Shongum Lake. Before the new dam was built, the lake would flood in heavy rains and Shongum Road would wash out with rushing water and sand crossing the road. Now the new dam has given a new look and safety to the area. The cache is a typical micro with only a log. Bring a pen! You DO NOT need to do anything dangerous to get this cache. No climbing. No swimming. No "rock" climbing. No fence hopping. You also do not need to go onto the beach. It is a private beach club and they will ask for ID if you go onto the beach in the summer. The paved parking lot nearby also belongs to the private beach club. Parking is allowed on Radtky Road, up the hill from the corner. Do not park near the intersection. Muggles abound! The beach is very crowded on any given summer day and nearly overcrowded on summer weekends.
