Thompson's Park information
Cardiff Council was given the freehold of Thompson’s Park by the
influential Thompson family. There is a good mix of tree and shrub
species throughout the park, whilst some of the borders have been
planted with colourful flowering plants. The wide variety of
habitats in the park such as the woodlands, pond and open grassed
areas make the park attractive to a range of wildlife.
Wide views towards the Vale of Glamorgan can be enjoyed from the
open area at the top of the park. The park contains public works of
art such as a giant tree carving of the ‘green man’ and a bronze
statue which forms the centre piece of the fountain in the pond
near to the southern entrance to the park.

This cache is only suitable for accessing during the daytime, as
the park is only open during daylight hours. The park usually opens
by 0730 and is locked approximately 30 minutes before the
nationally published sunset time for Cardiff. Closing times for the
park are published on the Cardiff County Council Website.
The cache is a small lock 'n' lock box, inside a
camouflage bag. At the time of placing, the cache contains a
logbook and pen and various swap items such as LED torches, a
fortune telling fish, flying saucer balloons, mini fibre tip pens
and twist and lock blocks. The cache difficulty rating reflects the
poor GPS signal due to tree cover. It should be fairly easy,
especially with the hint. The cache has been replaced with
a film canister micro, due to twice being muggled.
This cache has been placed with the kind permission of Cardiff
County Council Parks Service.
This cache is in plain sight in
a busy public park. Please be very careful and discrete when
retrieving and hiding the cache.
