Geocache Description:

The end of the island of Anglesey - you can walk for free, or get there by car for a (approx) £7.50 toll road fee. (Toll fees may go up a bit from time to time)

This island, situated just a few hundred yards off the beach, is an interesting example of an ancient coral reef, which was in ancient times under the ocean. You can't reach the island itself to explore it. But it is made of carboniferous limestone, which is full of fossils, including fossil shells and ancient ancestors of the starfish called crinoids. There are a number of similar ancient coral reefs that you CAN explore in north Wales. One is at Craig Fawr near Dyserth. Another is the headland known as the Great Orme that you can see to the right of Puffin Island. To prove you have been there, take a photo of yourself with Puffin Island in the background, and answer the following question. Approximately what angle from horizontal does the rock enter the sea on the left side of the island?
