Geocache Description:

A cache with a picturesque walk - whichever approach you take. Terrain varies from a tarmac road almost all the way to the cache location, to ambling lakeside paths along the banks of a beautiful reservoir.

A pleasant walk to the cache location, perhaps from the ample but no-longer free parking (currently £2.50/£2.70*) provided by Welsh Water (N51°42.750 W003°57.359) followed perhaps by a family picnic at the secluded picnic area nearby the cache location provided by Welsh Water.

Completed in 1863, the Lliw reservoirs were built to provide water for Swansea and its surrounds. You'll probably be approaching around the southern reservoir - if you have time you may wish to continue along the tarmac road to the upper reservoir about a mile up the valley from the cache location. The two are completely different.

Just a suggestion - make it a circular walk around the lake and look out for the sunken boats along the way!

Cache is a regular container, starting off with the usual sundries you'd expect to find in a cache, a log book and pencil.

Originally EP suggested "Whilst here, look up the valley to enjoy the unspoilt countryside. This may be the last chance you get to do so here as there are plans to install a number of enormous wind turbines all through this valley." Well that ship has sailed! The clunky whirry behemoths are here to stay, but don't clunk when there's not much wind, nor when there's too much wind, nor when they are locked due to oversupply to the grid/under-capacity of the grid to manage the power they produced. The price of progress

* 20mins from ANPR detection is "free". Also note the parking machine is card only. If the machine is broken (again) then there's a special procedure stored on a sheet in the cafe. Your first inclination would of course be to use the Group Nexus app. However, 3/4 networks won't have any signal and the fourth will be so terrible the app won't work. In this case you have to go into the cafe to find the sheet which says to go to the parking company's website within 24hrs, but they also scam you for an extra 20p (ISTR) to process payment through their website due to their machine not being reliable. Dwr Cymru are very sympathetic if you complain, but you still have to pay the fee and/or parking fine. You might be irritated enough at this point to see if Advertising Consent is held for all the signage...
