This cache is located entirely inside of the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. The coordinates listed are for the zoo entrance. The Zoo had it’s origin in 1882 with a gift from Jeptha P. Wade of 64 acres and a small herd of deer to the city of Cleveland. Between 1909 and 1914 the zoo was gradually moved from Wade Park to Brookside Park.
In 1970 zoo ownership was transferred from the city of Cleveland to Cleveland Metroparks. It now occupies 165 acres and is home to over 3300 animals.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: Having a Geocache in the Cleveland
Metroparks Zoo is a unique and exciting experience. It is VERY important that everyone seeking this cache be very respectful of the special situation of being in a zoo. You must stay in the areas that people are permitted into and out of those reserved for zoolife. No stage of this cache requires anyone to enter space not normally filled with visitors. Please remember that along with a great variety of wildlife, there is an extensive botanical collection at the zoo. Please do not trample any of the landscaping. The final cache does require you to walk about 100 feet off of the pavement, but does not take you any where near any
exhibit. It is unlikely that most zoo employees will know how to answer your questions about this cache. They are busy with zoo business. DETAILS: This cache is a 7 part multi. You must find six plaques or sculptures to gain information to complete the coordinates for the final cache container. Plan on spending at least 1.5 hours in the zoo to complete this cache. Find the first six stages in any order that is convenient for you.
