En lett drive-in cache på Ustaoset Stasjon, Bergenbanens "midtpunkt".
An easy drive-in cache at Ustaoset train station, the "halfway point" between Oslo and Bergen.
Den 9.oktober 1907 møttes skinneleggerne fra øst og vest like vest for Ustaoset, under byggingen av Bergensbanen. Banen ble offisielt åpnet to år senere, i 1909. På det meste jobbet 2200 mann med byggingen, og man regner med at det tok omtrent 2,5 millioner dagsverk å få banen ferdig.
Ustaoset Stasjon ligger 265 km fra Oslo og 227 km fra Bergen. Stasjonen ble åpnet i 1912 da hyttebyggingen ved Ustaoset tilsa at Bergenstogene stoppet der. Ustaoset er den østligste av stasjonene på Bergensbanens høyfjellsstrekning.
Stasjonen er ikke bemannet, men det er venterom og toaletter her. Man kan parkere på stasjonsområdet, med unntak av i påsken.
Cachen inneholder loggbok og blyant. Vær påpasselig med å plassere den tilbake så den sitter godt fast, og ikke la noen se deg. Lykke til!

October 9th 1907, railway workers from the west and from the east met just west of Ustaoset, connected the tracks, and completed the main part of building the Bergensbanen railway. The railway was opened two years later, connecting Norway's two largest cities. During the constuction, as much as 2200 man worked on the project, and it is estimated that it took 2,5 million working days to get the job done.
Ustaoset Station is situated 265 km from Oslo and 227 km from Bergen. The station was opened in 1912, when Ustaoset had become a popular winter-destination. Ustaoset is the easternmost of the Hardangervidda-stations on the railway.
The station does not have a ticket-office, but there's a waiting room and restrooms. You can park on the station any time, except during the Easter holiday.
The cache contains a logbook and a pencil. Please place the cache back in it's original location so that it won't fall down. Don't let anyone see your actions. Good luck!
