Fun cache to find with the family. Easy access. Please "unscrew" cash, do not pull. Park at 42 deg 16.771 and 87 deg 51.763, the Lake Bluff Open Lands' Skokie River Preserve gravel parking lot. Stroll on pavement to the site.
You are in alphabet soup territory here. The large building behind you is CLC-JAWA (Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency). To the S and SW is the LBOLA (Lake Bluff Open Lands Association) Skokie River Preserve. When you are done finding the cache near the parking lot, condsider a hike on foot down the path that runs south from the lot into this preserve. Just beyond the trees, the preserve is a nice escape with lots of birds and prarie plants. Continue south and you run into a secret Lake County Forest Preserve property. Venturing back here you may find a hidden pond designed by a famous landscape architect years ago, but now overgrown. Countinuing your hike south even more you eventually run into LFOLA (Lake Forest Open Lands). A beautiful swath of wilderness. You can not get too lost back here, the Skokie River, Rail Corridor, and 41 limit your west access and housing/Green Bay limit your east access. Your movement will be north and south only (now you know how the deer feel).
