Definition:
Flash Mob (FLASH mawb) n. A large group of people who gather in a usually predetermined location, perform some brief action, and then quickly disperse.
this will be a brief celebration of the date 7-7-07.
You've heard of mega-events? Here's the opposite. Flash mobs have gathered for other reasons but rarely before for geocaching.
This "flash mob cache event" will begin precisely at 7:00 PM on Saturday, July 7th and will last exactly 7 minutes and 7 seconds. You must be present and sign the log sheet DURING these 7 minutes and 7 seconds to claim the event.
This event is open to Geocachers & their families, friends, groupies and/or assorted hanger-ons. The larger the turnout, the better. The looks on all the surrounding muggles faces will be priceless!
Official Event Itinerary
6:45 - 6:59
Use this time frame as your arrival to the area but do not gather and stay away from the ground zero coordinates (feel free to arrive sooner if you like). Mill about and wander. Be nonchalant and casual. Look like a muggle. Don't look like a gathering waiting to happen. Blend in to the area as realistically as you can. This is part of the fun. We will seem to appear out of no-where.
7:00 – 7:04
cookie&faith will walk to GZ (ground zero) and yell “I FOUND IT”.
This is the signal that the event has begun!
At this time participants should come running (or move as quickly as possible) to GZ.
Once you reach GZ make sure to pickup a loot bag from the designated “Loot Bag Bucket” (only 1 bag per person please).
The loot bag will have almost everything you’ll need: nametag, log sheet, special “Flash Mob Meal” (treat), crayon and drawing ticket.
Fill out nametags with your names and your caching names and stick 'em on. That’s what the crayon is for!
Fill out log sheets and drop them in the container designated “Official Log”. That’s also what the crayon is for!
Make sure only your caching name appears on the log sheet (if you are part of a caching team who all use the same caching name, only one log entry is required in the Official Log container, but it is your responsibility to make sure one of your members dropped it in there).
This will allow you to log the event online.
We will be checking!
Make sure one half (any half!) of your drawing ticket goes into container designated “Drawing”. No need to fill anything out, just make sure you hang onto the other half and listen carefully for winners to be announced once the drawing begins.
Now this is the important part. Once you have completed all these things, you should now proceed to look for a cache that you just can not find. Hold your GPSr's out in front of you and do the drunken bee dance. A few steps forward, turn, a few more steps, stop. You get the idea. Continue doing this for the remaining minutes before our drawing. This is what will tie this event to Geocaching and make it look even funnier to muggles.
If muggles are curious about the event we will have a handout that explains geocaching. Just direct them to cookie.
7:04 – 7:06
This is the time to quiet down and pay attention. cookie&faith will begin to draw tickets of drawing winners. Listen carefully because this will go fast. Up for grabs are FTF honors for this event, geocoins and ready to hide caches of various sizes, along with several other prizes..

Go over to the flag pole and assemble FAST for a group photo. Listen to cookie&faith for directions.

All present will recite the Pledge of Allegiance. This takes approx. 12 seconds
put your hat back on and wait for......
7:07:07 EXACTLY
Wait for it . . . then LEAVE the area, right at 7:07:07, in a disorderly manner and in different directions. Please if at all possible, avoid grouping. This will really make tourists and onlookers wonder what that was all about. Afterwards, meet elsewhere if desired.
If you plan on joining us then please log your “Will Attend” with the number of people in your group so we have an idea of how many loot bags to prepare.
