Welcome to the East Pier of Olcott. As the sign says, access was a long time in coming so please respect it. There is a walkway to the pier through the private property of Hedley Boat Yard with an agreement with the Town of Newfane. From the parking coordinates follow the signs to the pier. This cache is not overly challenging (the kids dreamed this one up while participating in this morning's kid's fishing derby here). It will however lead you to a beautiful spot that mostly only the locals use and will give everyone coming up for the All-American celebration something to do before or after. The cache is a short two part multi leading to a small lock n lock with just a few small trading items. Please do not go anywhere dangerous in searching for the cache-for part one you do not need to leave the pier. If you are here on a summer weekend with kids, please do not miss the Carousel Park only a block away. You will find 25 cent rides for the youngsters, even a carousel for us grown ups and the last remaining building from Krull Park from the days when there was a Beachfront Hotel, big bands, a daily train from Lockport and amusement rides. A few years back we discovered the 1905 Boeckmann Photo Studio out behind our barn. It had been moved here many years ago and used briefly as a hot dog stand out front (near where the Brown Bug (& Coin) Bungalow sits today). A little research put us in touch with the Newfane Historical Society who came and picked up the building to begin a major restoration. This year it made it's debute into the Carousel Park and is being filled with vintage arcade games.
