Geocache Description:

Roughly one hour on foot from the Goorooyaroo carpark, just west of the Federal Highway. Suggest driving in from the Harrison side due to Horse Park Drive being a divided road. I walked the main track until just past the Parks depot before heading off trail to the right.

17cm long clear plastic screw-top canister. Small swaps only. If you can't see the top of the nearby trig-station, you're looking in the wrong place.

Two waypoints are recommended for the suggested walk to the cache:

1) S35 12.025 E149 11.231 for the gate to exit the wildlife fence encircling the reserve.
2) S35 11.818 E149 11.319 for the gate in the rural fence at the base of the climb.

Last 250m is strenuous uphill. Take water and lots of breaks on the way up if you need to.

An alternative walking track route leaves the main Goorooyaroo Management Trail at S35 11.191 E149 11.354. This route is longer but avoids the brutal final gradients.

A good excuse to wander deeper into (and past) the Goorooyaroo reserve. I can see the trig station clearly from my house in Belconnen. The Federal Highway's to the North-East with views across to Mt Majura, Civic, Gunghalin and the Mountains beyond.
