El Gato Grande (The Big Cat)
Once upon a time, there was this outstanding shrubber. His fellow workers loved him so. They loved him so much that they gave him this special name - El Gato Grande (The Big Cat).
These fellow workers were a bunch of guys who lived in the Racine area in the summer time, then went back home to southern Mexico for the winter. Great bunch of guys.
They taught me a lot about Mexico. They taught me a bunch about the language.
"NO! Jose, no ponga los rockas akee! Ponga los rockas aee!" I only got to use that once - but it sure came in handy.
These fellas always brought the best lunches. They'd open their lunchboxes and.....WOW, the aromas that would fill the room. They loved me so much they'd often share their lunches with me.
Only one problem, they used alot of Cumin to spice their food. Cumin on EVERYTHING! So much so that it ruined our company microwave. Everything tasted like Cumin. Ever have Cumin flavored coffee? Yech!
I was proud to know these guys - The Big Cat - What a nickname!
