Geocache Description:

A stunning location at Kings Quoit,on the Coastal Path overlooking Manorbier Beach, Pembrokeshire. Park on the opposite headland (Free) and stroll across the beach and onto the path heading in the direction of Tenby. The path is a typical Coastal Path, so can be muddy and has cliff edges....so watch the Kids and the Dog! **The Co-Ords are for the Quoit, you'll need the clue to find the nearby Cache**

The Cache is plastic sandwich box which is hidden in the undergrowth a short distance away from the monument. It contains the usual pencil and log book etc, along with a starting selection of trinkets. King's Quoit is a most dramatic survival from the Neolithic period is a burial chamber. The tomb is beautifully perched in a dramatic location above the sea cliffs at Old Castle Head on the east side of Manorbier Bay at the side of a cliff path. It is possible that there were other chambers in the same complex. There is no other such site in the district and it is believed to show the importance of Manorbier as a ritual centre in the Neolithic period. This low tomb consists of two small sidestones that support a large capstone measuring 4.5 x 2.7m (15 x 9ft). At the south-east corner there is another stone, probably the southern end-stone of the chamber. The internal height of the monument is 0.8m (2.6ft) and the chamber is partially below ground, one side of the capstone being supported by earth alone.
