Geocache Description:

Coastal cache highlighting the old railway carriage used on the nearby crab and winkle line, also an old second world war lookout tower visible in the middle distance.

This cache is located on private property (with the kind permission of the amused farmer!). Please, please do not try and climb over the barbed wire fence, it damages the fence and is not fun to fall on! Entering the adjacent field is no longer necessary. The slope down the bank is steep, please take care!! There is an easy way down on the far right (facing away from the sea) of the ditch down a grass slope.

The track on your right with the sea behind you used to be the railway linking Tollesbury to Colchester taking the daily catch of shellfish to market hence it was called the "Crab and Winkle Line".

The brick tower in the near distance is an ex-WW2 lookout post across the estuary.
