Geocache Description:

Welcome to a series called “Reel Wilmington.” To many, Wilmington has become known as ‘Wilmywood’ or ‘Hollywood East.’ Since the 1980’s, our city has been the filming ground for commercials, popular TV shows, and feature length films. We’ve had many movie stars choose to relocate to this area (or at least store their boat here) because they fell in love with the quaint beauty and the relaxed atmosphere while in town filming.

In this series, we want to take you around Wilmington and the beaches to see some of the sights that have been on the big and small screens. Before visiting these caches, we encourage you to watch the movie or show (please monitor the rating, not all are appropriate for children) for maximum appreciation of the hide, though it’s not necessary to find them.

In 1994 The Hudsucker Proxy was shot here. It's a strange movie by the Coen brothers and Sam Raimi - but oddly enjoyable. In this movie, Tim Robbins character invents something... you know... for kids! Enjoy this hunt and maybe take a chance to enjoy this movie as well.
