This is near a town that has been cacheless for too long. We have wanted to put a cache here for ages but not found the right spot. We were passing through and happened to have a container with us so seized the day.
The Fairbridge remembrance drive relates to the Fairbridge Farm school set up nearby in 1938. The idea was based on a scheme developed by Kingsley Fairbridge, who encouraged the migration of poor and neglected children from Britain. The children were to provide farm labour but also have an opportunity to grow up in a better environment than was available in Britain. Unfortunately later reports suggest the true situation was more like slave labour and some children were badly mistreated although many ex-residents have positive memories.
The cache will only hold very small swaps. The log book was the only paper we had on us at the time, please be gentle.
