Kerimäen kirkko on maailman suurin puukirkko ja Suomen suurin kirkko. Kirkkoon mahtuu istumaan n. 3 000 henkeä, seisomapaikoille n. 2 000. Kirkon rakentaminen aloitettiin vuonna 1844ja se valmistui vuonna 1847.
Kirkon suurta kokoa on yritetty selittää kyynärän ja metrin sekaantumisella tai piirustusten vaihtumisella. Todellisuudessa Kerimäen kirkkoherrana kirkon rakentamisen aikaan toiminut Fredrik Neovius vain ajatteli, että kirkon täytyy voida mahduttaa sisäänsä puolet seurakunnan asukkaista kerralla.
Vuonna 1953 kirkon kylkeen rakennettiin laajennuksena pienempi kirkkosali, nk. talvikirkko. Suurta kirkkosalia ei lämmitetä kylmänä vuodenaikana.
Joka vuosi joulupäivän aamuna järjestetään joulujumalanpalvelus, jossa vanhan perinteen mukaan istutaan turkit päällä ja kintaat kädessä. Kirkossa on useita hyvin koristeellisia kamiinoita, mutta ne ovat olleet jo yli sata vuotta käyttökiellossa.
The Kerimäki Church is the largest wooden church in the world. The church is designed by Anders Granstedt and built between 1844 and 1847, the church has a length of 45 metres, a width of 42 meters, a height of 37 metres and a seating capacity of more than 3,000. Altogether there can be 5,000 people at a time in the church.
It has been rumoured that the size of the church was the result of a miscalculation when it was built (supposedly the architect was working in centimeters, which the builder took to be inches). Further studies, however, have shown that the church was actually intended to be as big as it is, so it could easily accommodate a half of the area's population at the same time.
During wintertime, services are held in a smaller "winter church" (built in 1953), since the main building has no heating.
