Geocache Description:

This neat little landmark in Yachats has lots of history and is now a museum with a collection of historical artifacts and written records.

The church was built in the late 1920’s from logs harvested up the Yachats River by local residents. The building, dedicated in 1930, was unique because it was built in the shape of a cross and was first served by ministers from the Evangelical Church and later, the Presbyterian Church in Oregon.

When the congregation outgrew the log church, a new church was built and the building was given to the historical society and then turned over to the city of Yachats. Completely renovated in 1993, the Little Log Church serves Yachats and the surrounding area with everything from weddings to musical performances. The museum is staffed by volunteers 12 -3 PM every day except Thursday.

Be sure to visit the Sea Lion Sculpture in the garden donated by the Yachats Lionesses. The carving is Western Red Cedar by the Seal Rock artist, Brian McEneny.

The cache container is small and round, 2” X 6”, and painted to match its surroundings. It is very limited in space, so only small swag will fit. During the tourist season (most of the year!) this is a high muggle area so PLEASE use caution to prevent “cache trashing!” The location of the container DOES NOT REQUIRE DIGGING or DESTROYING the beautiful landscaping that provides a serene and relaxing area to visit.

WARNING: Travel bugs and Geocoins seem to drop into a "hole" here and rarely are seen again. Enjoy the Church and gardens and drop TBs at the other sites available.
