A Tribute to the Expedition of Burke and Wills Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Devil Winds: Well, this cache has run it's course. It has lost its multi status because of muggles and it just doesn't get hit very often. Not to worry, a new TCS cache will be in its place soon...

Geocache Description:

To truly appreciate the expedition alluded to in the cache name, refer to Bill Bryson’s book, In A Sunburned Country, pages 28-31.

And the only reason for a 2.5 difficulty is an inability to get coordinates better than 15 feet at either stage, due to heavy tree cover.

Dear Cachers,

I regret to inform you that the expedition has come to a premature end due to the expiration of all explorers, save one. The lone returning member of the exploration party, TeddyR, has apparently gone insane - in other words, he has lost his marbles. It is quite difficult to ascertain what exactly transpired, as the interview with our lone survivor appears to have provided us with nothing more than incoherent ramblings.

Of three things I am certain: the explorers were woefully unprepared for the terrain, the explorers were unbelievably ill rationed, and the large bite mark on TeddyR's forehead is a mark the likes of which I have never seen before.

Of consequence is the following piece of information, gathered from a note in TeddyR’s pocket. There appears to have been some sort of “treasure” acquired by the party that was successfully hidden in an area of inhospitable and unknown terrain. Please send a search party to the location at once to secure the artifacts and possibly provide us with a clearer picture of the fate of the party.

Regards,
Bernoulli

P.S. After analyzing the aforementioned bite to the forehead, it appears that the bite was responsible for TeddyR’s loss of mental faculty. It should return shortly.

*On a side note, I just found out that fishing in the pond requires no license.
