FOURTH ANNUAL “KEARNEY GEOPICNIC
AND CAMPFIRE!!” Sept 15th @ 11:30 am
We are announcing this Years
Event!!! There are a few changes this Year, We have outgrown our
old Location (Cottonmill Park) and are moving the Whole Event to
Fort Kearney State Park (Recreation Area).
The
“Kearney Geopicnic and Campfire” has Doubled in Size
each Year since its beginning in 2004, and are hoping to
double again this Year!!! Fort Kearney offers us WAY more
Room for the Picnic, more Parking, CampSites
, plenty of room for our “Event Caches”, and Fire-Pits for our
Evening Campfire. Our Shelter Coord's:

This Year I
have also recruited the help of some VERY Seasoned Geocachers to
make this the Best Event Possible. (Contryguy,
Big Dawgg,CG, Team Zooluton, Still
Searching, ) These Cachers will also be
helping with the “Event Caches” so….Remember “You have been
Warned”!!!!
On the Subject of “Event Caches”, as you all know if you have
Attended a Kearney Geopicnic. WE
LOVE EVENT CACHES!!!! We try very hard to make
Event Caches that will be talked about all Year! Some of our Event
Caches have met that Goal and well……. Some have Not! We have even
talked about bringing some of those Event Caches from previous
Years Back this Year for our Newbie Cachers to experience!! (Now
that would be fun to watch, don’t you think?)
This
Year we will be having a “Night Event
Cache”for anyone up to the
Challenge. There will also be a “KID’S ONLY” Event Cache for
our Up and coming Cachers. (No help from you Parents on this
one!)
This will be
our First Year for the “GPS
ACCURACY CHALLENGE” this is a Great way to
help understand why Caches are not always where OUR GPS say
they should be!!
We will also
be Giving away “Ready to Hide” Cache Containers, as well as “Door
Prizes”. This Year I will be giving away to Some Lucky Geocacher a
“One of a Kind VENTUREMAN Custom Made Walking
Stick”.
About the
Potluck Picnic. It will start at 12:00
(
noon)
Sept. 15th, We ask that you bring a Favorite Food to Share with us,
we will provide a Drink, Paper Plates, Forks, Spoons, Etc. Don’t
Forget Your Appetite!!!
About the
Campfire. The Campfire will Start at 7:00 pm Sept. 15th, The
Campfire is a Great way to end the Day. We Roast Hotdogs,
Marshmallows, Feast on the Zoo’s “Cobbler” (Don’t miss this!!) We
spend Hours talking about our Favorite Past Time
Geocaching!!!

NOTE*** Fort Kearney Recreation Area is a State
Park. We are Required to have a State Park Sticker to Enter the
Park. Alcoholic Beverages ARE NOT ALLOWED in the Park. Please abide
by the Rules, to keep us in “Good Standings” with Park
Manager.
