Basic cache that is easy to get to. This is one for the whole family. Permission was gotten to place this cache by this organization. To respect the property, there is no need to leave the grass to get this find.
This cache is placed at a special place in this area. It is one of the great buildings in the Kendallville area.
The original building burnt to the ground in 1872.
The current building was erected in 1874.
The cache however is placed in honor of a part of this building that no longer exists. This building is the community center that was built in 1920. The community building was built at a point when the community needed a place to meet and hold basketball games, but the school corporation was reluctant to appropriate funds for such a facility.
This now gone community center portion of the building was used by girl and boy scouts, community groups, and a variety of church activities.
Every good thing must come to an end, and in 1992 a new sunday school and fellowship hall was built to serve the needs of the new chuch community.
Come visit the site of the old community center and take a look around at the few pieces that are left.
