This cache is designed to give Sierra Trek and other folks an opportunity to travel a historic trail. Limited places to hide this one gallon cache should make an easy find along the historic Henness Pass trail. 20' off Henness Pass Trail (road)
The Sierra Trek series of caches is meant to give a little extra spice to jeepers and other off road folks. This series is centered in the Summit City/Meadow Lake ghost town area that hosts the annual “Sierra Trek” premier off road events. In addition, the area is known for its beauty and rich history. There are many events, the Historical SUV drive is expected to pass this cache.
The original Heness Pass road was primarily a road for an easier entrance into California. After the Donner Party disaster of 1846, emigrants avoided the rugged cliffs above Truckee (later Donner) Lake. Instead they turned northward taking a longer route developed by Patrick Henness (or Hanness) in either 1849 or 1850, although that is a subject of some debate. (From Nevada County Gold)
There is a pencil but it is always a good idea to bring an extra. Watch for mugglers....you have a challenge with this series if you attempt it during the Trek.
The usual Sierra dangers of insects, snakes, wildlife, etc. require the normal precautions. Remember, DO NOT FEED THE BEARS, hands, legs, or children.
