Thank you to everyone who attended. It was great to see everyone turn out and the weather was beautiful, a true I ndian Summer day. Very special thanks to those who gave of themselves either in swag for prizes or time to help prepare, setup, and cleanup. These would include: AKwhodini, eagle618, MrsOMGCrew, OMGCrew, lemurlad, AntoniaDodge, Ladybug Kids, AKdogteam(AKDogmom, AKteamroper), hixfromthestix, akgeowidow, FLYRFN, AccuPoint, Geo-Leprechaun, and anyone else I may be forgetting. Thank you all for coming and I look forward to seeing you all out on the trails. Cache On!
Welcome to the end of summer. All geocachers come and celebrate the coming of winter with the reprise of summer, the Indian Summer. It is towards the end of summer, but we can all get together and celebrate the fact that we are Alaskan or not and are all drawn together into the great sport of Geocaching. This will be a BBQ in the grandest of Alaskan fashion with games, prizes and lots of Geocaching excitement to be had by all. Please bring a dish to share as this will be a potluck affair with some food provided by the host.
There will be a Brand new Geocache Poker Run just for the event, as well as a tips & techniques of the container session, so bring along an ammo can or two and we will make some fresh hiding containers. There will be other geocaching games as well as a mobile pickup game of Frisbee golf and possibly some bocca ball and other summer pastimes.
The event will run throughout the afternoon as we cache the area and eat and enjoy the fellowship of our neighborhood geocahcers.
I hope you can all join in Anchorage's First celebration of Indian Summer GeoCache Alaska Style. Here's to many future returns.
This event is tentatively scheduled to take place in the brand new Abbott Community Park on September 29, 2007. At present the park is under construction and is not finished. We are the first on the list to reserve the park for this date, but it may not be at this location due to construction. Please check date often for updates as to where this event will be. The Muni Parks and Rec division has informed me that we are the first on the list and the park is scheduled to open the end of July. This park has a lot of history and from what I've seen so far this is one of the nicest parks in the Municipality.
Come and join all of your fellow geocachers from across the great State of Alaska and who know, perhaps the world as we give a grand Alaskan send off to Indian Summer 2007 ~ GeoCache Alaska Style.
I look forward to meeting each of you at the event.
Who knows, perhaps we will have to send a party into the woods after the event to find the notorious Dr. Bleh in his sinister night cache.
