Geocache Description:

A leisurely, 12-mile drive to the end of scenic Ranch Road 1832 is well worthwhile, especially after having a good soak in the pool at Balmorhea. The road is paved all the way, but ungraded, so it is literally an asphalt ribbon winding along the plain that eventually threads its way into the Little Aguja Canyon in the northern Davis Mountains.

If you reach the gates of Buffalo Trail Scout Ranch, then it is time to turn around and head back out to Highway 17, perhaps pausing at a stream crossing or two to watch the fish or any other critters that may be about.

The cache container is a drab green ammo can with trade items inside located less than 100 feet from the road. The canyon the cache is named after is across the road from the cache and winds away in a northerly direction, where the Little Aguja Creek branches off.

Although we live in Houston, we visit the Trans Pecos area periodically. When issues with cache are reported, we have made a special arrangement with a geocacher from the Fort Davis area, Nitpicker, who has kindly agreed to watch over our cache if and when needed.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind:
1) Parts of the road are open range. Watch for livestock on the road.
2) Black Angus cattle can be hard to see at night, therefore we'd recommend not attempting this cache after dark.
3) Although we did not see any, be watchful for snakes, scorpions, etc. while in the brush or among the rocks.
4) The road is pretty narrow. There are blind corners and hills, low water crossings, and cattle guards.
5) Otherwise, enjoy the scenery and the drive!
