The McNay is known for it's beautiful manicured landscapes,
gorgeous fountains and it's lovely Japanese garden. There is,
however, another side to this popular location. This cache is
hidden on the outskirts of the property where things are a little
wilder. There are native plants, fallen logs, wild palms and
foot-paths winding through the area. The cache, although
camouflaged, should be fairly easy to find (please be sure to
recover it once you are done). Subject to regular McNay hours.
This is a different style of cache than it was originally. The first one was an ammo box stocked with geocaching supplies, but some kids used that spot for drinking beer so it was muggled a few times. This one is a little sneakier and should be harder for muggles to spot (by the way, the mosquistoes are pretty bad here so it is best to bring the cache out into the sunlight when looking through it).
This cache was the winner of the 2007 SAN ANTONIO GEOCACHING ASSOCIATION award for Best Traditional Cache! Thanks to all that voted and to all that look for it!
