A small cache placed in the graveyard at Pradoe Church in Shropshire.
Pradoe Church was built by Mrs Louisa Charlotte Kenyon in the 1860s for the use of elderly and sick locals who could not walk to Ruyton-XI-Towns church or the church in West Felton. The church is therefore situated between these two villages, in a very peaceful spot. The name Pradoe may come from the Welsh word "paradurys" meaning "paradise" or from the French "pre duoux" meaning "gentle meadow".
The church is kept open at all times and it is well worth looking inside. There is an excellent booklet written by schoolgirl Becky Heathcote available on the table near the door, which gives a lot of information and history about the church. There is also a transcription of the churchyard memorial inscriptions, for any genealogists out there. Do look out for the memorial window to Colonel Kenyon, who is buried in the churchyard; the window was dedicated in October 2010 and is a lovely piece of work, a very fitting tribute to this gentleman who was a Shropshire Lad through and through. Visiting in February will give the added pleasure of seeing the snowdrops, for which Pradoe is renowned.
The cache is a plastic clip-down box. Please be careful to cover the cache well after you have visited it.
