Wear your grass kilts and come join us for a luau for the
halibut!
During the last few days of June, I spent three
days on a boat fishing for salmon and halibut off Sitka,
Alaska. I brought home over 125 pounds of fish, mostly halibut
but also some salmon and rock fish.
Now I need to find some new ways to cook halibut. So we're going
to have an Iron Chef competition. Those that want to participate
should bring their favorite halibut recipes along with the
necessary ingredients (I'll bring the halibut) and we'll have a
cook-off.
For those that don't like halibut, well, you haven't tried
fresh halibut! This stuff was flash-frozen within hours of
being caught and is fresher than anything you can buy in stores.
You just have to try it!
For those that still aren't convinced, let's make this a
pot-luck. Bring a main dish, salad, dessert, or something else to
share.
Since it'll be hot we'll start around 10am with a game or
two, have lunch around noon, and wrap up by 3pm.
So that I can plan on how
much halibut to bring, please state in your "will attend" log how
many people will be eating fish and if your team is going to be an
Iron Chef.
And don't forget your grass kilts!
