Geocache Description:

Located near Lester Park. Park across the street at the Fossils Sign and do the Earthcache and Virtual cache too! Trail starts across the road to the left, please follow trail.

A little known part of Lester Park.
A sign here says, "This quarry is the geological reference locality for the Hoyt Limestone, a rock unit that extends around the southeast side of the Adirondacks. A number of Late Cambrian-age fossils are found only here and in Poughkeepsie, New York. Scientists have observed such features as mud cracks and ripple marks in the quarry, showing that this limestone was a product of very shallow seas." The quarry has been inactive for many years, and the rocks have weathered. Ripples are apparent in the middle, and mudcracks appear in the lowermost beds exposed here.
Cache is a Lock n Lock container with a logbook, pen and a few typical trades. A FTF prize for the lucky one. Not that great of a prize, but hey that's not what FTF is about is it?
