This is in an ammo can located next to the remains of a recent forest fire.
On April 28, 2007, a small forest fire scorched a plantation of jack pines here. Already the underbrush is green, but all the dead trees are kind of spooky. Fortunately, jack pine seeds need fire to grow, so this area will regrow.
The DNR bulldozed the sandy path surrounding the fire to keep it contained. You can follow either sandy trail into the area where the cache is from the intersection of Lost Road and Timber Lane.
I think it would be neat if cachers recorded the natural regrowth of this area, so while you're logging your visit, please note what the burn area looks like.
Update 7/3/2011: This is not the quick follow-the-sandy-trail geocache it used to be! The area is not even recognizable to what it was when this cache was placed after the fire. Lots of growth going on here, and ratings increased accordingly.
Update 11/1/2020: Updated coordinates due to recent log indicating new safer spot for this cache.
