Geocache Description:

The first in a series of caches on or near Saskatchewan Highway 9 between Oxbow and the TransCanada Highway.
For others, please search for keywords "Highway 9"

Moose Mountain Provincial Park has been a popular getaway for more than 70 years – it’s one of Saskatchewan’s original provincial parks. Today’s visitors can enjoy a stay as rustic or refined as they wish. Pitch a tent in a cozy nook, park the camper trailer in a lovely, level spot, slip that big RV unit into a fully-serviced site or rent a cabin or hotel room right inside the park.

This cache can be found just off Highway 9 between Carlyle and Kenosee Lake. As the title implies, perhaps a snack can be taken along to enjoy the view over the lake. If you haven't brought your own snack, the Mini Mart at Kenosee Lake have super butter tarts, & Marie's Cafe (7am to 4pm, closed Monday) has great home-cooked food.

Afterwards, take a pleasant hike through the ash and aspen stands on the Beaver Lake Trail (where you'll find another cache) or blow away those workaday woes with a challenging bike ride in the park’s extensive trail system. There’s more than 150 kms. of trails designated for hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling. History buffs will enjoy a visit to nearby Cannington Manor, (and another cache) where a group of fox-hunting aristocrats tried to create a Utopian community more than 100 years ago.

The item is a camouflaged Nalgene-type water bottle (with a fairly narrow mouth, so item size is restricted). I have recently moved it to make it winter friendly. Also, please make sure when you repack the log it will easily come back out!

And finally, as with all caches on or near any highway, please park safe.

**MAY 6, 2012** This cache has been altered, moved, and changed such that I will allow anyone to "Find" this cache again if they like. It has been moved down the slope, so I have upped the terrain some.
