School House Rock Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Windrose: Well first of all - it may not have been found for a whole year (that often happens with old caches) BUT neither did anyone log a DNF on it until last week.

In any event the cache is gone, so I'm archiving it. Thanks to all who stopped by and enjoyed the cache.

Geocache Description:

Placed in Euclid Linear Park. This little patch of wetland is full of natural charm, with urban convenience. It has a nice paved path and a boardwalk over the wet areas. Lots of birds, butterflies, and other small wildlife. When I was placing the cache I saw 10 or 12 families of ducks, and more frogs than I could count. Coordinates are for the entrance. Decipher the code below to find the cache coordinates.

While poking around on the Web looking at various codes and ciphers for my next puzzle cache, I ran across Sir Francis Bacon and found out quite a few interesting facts, including that he was responsible for the quote "knowledge is power"; and that there is some question as to whether Sir Francis is the one who actually wrote some, most, or all of William Shakespeare's plays and poems.

Sir Francis was devoted to ciphers and they appear throughout his writings. So in (somewhat) true School House Rock style - here are a couple of ditties:

(sung to the tune of "School House Rock")
I love to do ciphers
At times by the hour
I know the truth
And "Knowledge is Power"

Though first in Latin
You take a good look
Advancement of Learning
That's my book

(sung to the tune of "I'm Only a Bill")
His name was Will
But, some folks called him Bill
And they said he's got no great writing skill,
Well he looked real downhearted
So I took some pity and
Wrote some plays and such
That sounded oh so pretty,
Penned each work by Willy Shakespeare
No one hears what is said, from a dude
That is dead, named for a breakfast food.

(sung to the tune of "My Hero, Zero")
Counting Binary
It is really ordinary
If you like to use just
Number sets that never change much
Other things like Art
Alchemy, Philosophy
Drama, Geomancy
And Physics they are all a start
Hermeticism and Wisdom
Can take you very far
