Bring your swimsuits and water shoes and enjoy a refreshing 20-foot waterfall! This 1/2 mile hike is perfect for a quick after-work getaway.
This secluded waterfall gets few visitors, despite being right off the popular Adams Canyon trail. The pool below the falls is perfect for wading and splashing, and a rock shelf runs behind the waterfall, so your more adventurous kids can get a kick from waving at you from behind the falls.
Start your hike at the Adams Canyon trailhead (N 41' 03.983 W 111' 54.394) and head up the sandy trail east past the reservoir to the switchbacks.
When you think you have reached the top of the switchbacks, you will cross a large clearing. Just as the trail starts to climb the hill again, a less-traveled trail takes off to the right (south.) This junction is 0.30 miles from the trailhead, at N 41' 04.004 W 111' 54.394.
Your new trail heads downhill. Ignore all paths that take off to the sides until you reach N 41' 03.915 W 111' 54.332, at 0.42 miles. The trail you're on will dead-end into a bigger trail coming from your right and heading up the canyon. (This used to be the main trail to the falls until the subdivision below was developed and the access was fenced off.) Follow the new trail to the left, towards the mountain.
After a few minutes, the trail will get rocky and hard to follow. Stay on the most worn path. The trail will turn to the right and drop into the canyon. There is a big rock right in the middle of the trail (N 41'03.915 W 111' 54.249 or 0.50 miles) that small children and dogs will need help getting by. After the rock, you are at the falls!
The cache can be reached from a small spur trail before you reach the big rock.
