Geocache Description:

Use Geoscouting to Promote Scouting
Located on old camp road to Boy Scout Camp Long Lake. Rather an overgrown road, on property now owned by the DNR. Name modified to reflect the series used in the Boy Scout Geocaching Merit Badge.

Park at N43 41.760 W88 10.229. This is at the end of the old road to Camp Long Lake, BSA. From the time the camp was purchased up until the hill was cut down to connect to Boy Scout Road all Scouts coming to camp had to take this road. Today it is overgrown and is not travelable. You will have to follow a faint trail to the cache. Notice the swamp alongside the road. I have been told that the original camp office was located in a house not too far from where you will enter the trail. There is a hole dug in the road shortly after you start. The story is that one of the camp rangers dug this to prevent cars from driving on the road. This was done while the property was still owned by the Scouts. They traded this piece of property to the DNR in exchange for a piece located on the north end of the camp. The cache is any army surplus waterproof container. The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Jason Quast of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form. Please print out a paper copy of the notification form, fill in all required information, then submit it to the land manager. The DNR Notification form and land manager information can be obtained at: http://www.wi-geocaching.com/hiding.
