Cranbourne (also spelt Caranbourne) was the original name of much of modern day Beulah Park.
The current street name is from Joshua Gurr (1819-1910), an ironmonger and shareholder in the Burra Copper Mine. He purchased 20 acres in this area, and his house was between Birnie Avenue and Cranbourne Terrace. In the early 1920's the vineyard and other parts of the property were subdivided and sold, and the street renamed shortly after.
None of this is relevant to this little park, which is dedicated to none other than JFK.
