Geocache Description:

In spite of ominous name, this is a short and easy hike on a well-maintained trail. The name comes from the scenic rock and water formations at the end of the trail.

There’s a parking lot at the trailhead off of Shaffer Road. On the way in the trail you will pass on the left one of the end points of the Slippery Rock Gorge Trail (SRGT). The North Country National Scenic Trail also passes through this point and converges with the SRGT for a few miles. During a dry summer, the creeks on the first half of the Hell’s Hollow Trail may be dry, but you will soon hear water further down. For those who have never been here, I won’t reveal anymore details of what you will find along the trail and at the end. Be careful of slippery rocks in some locations. This is part of the McConnells Mill State Park. The geocache is in an easy to access spot (i.e. not in the creek, not across the creek, not in floodable areas or difficult locations). Some GPS units can have trouble here, especially when the trees are full.
