Second in my Dead Pilot's series. This is a 4" plastic container, camo colored.
This wreck happened late in 1966. This pilot was a preacher flying from Page Arizona to Cedar City and got lost in fog and low clouds. He clipped the top of a ridge and scattered himself and plane wreckage into the adjoining draw. I was a freshman in college at the time and remember visiting the site just after the body was removed. It was kind of grim to see the words "Wings for Christ" on the mangled wreckage.
The family placed a monument to remember the pilot at approximately the point where the plane hit the ridge. It is up the hill almost due west of the cache about 150 yards.
You can drive to within a mile if you find the right road, possible closer on an ATV. I suggest you work towards N 37 30.767 W 113 16.055 and then just make your wau up the gully. Hiking the sidehills is kind of tough. Be sure to take planty of water if it is hot.
