The Ooltewah Zoo - Unusual Habitats Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Super_Nate: Sad to say, the Ooltewah Zoo has packed up and left. This was a cool location, which earned quite a few favorites from geocachers over time.

Thanks to Valorian for the attached photo. And thanks to all the geocachers who visited and enjoyed the zoo while it was here.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to our Habitat

If you are traveling along the interstate, and you want something that will give you a "positive distraction" from the road for a while....then I highly recommend you come and visit the brand-new Ooltewah Zoo. Their is no fee to enter, and you can view all the animals from your car.

You can reach this very unusual habitat from Exit 11, and turning onto Mountain View Road in the direction that your GPS leads you.

Nate here got his safari hat on, and it was off to check out this new wonder. I arrived at the zoo at 8:30pm to go on a tour. This is an account of my trip:

The guide gets in the Land Rover, and as he starts on down the road we arrive at out first tour sight. "On your right you will see two giraffes guarding two palm trees on the habitat piller." He says. I was shocked....I have never seen palm trees or giraffes in Ooltewah before! After this first stop, I was sure that this was going to be the coolest place ever.

While driving down the road, the guide beeped the horn of the Land Rover at a man named Steven riding his bike with an entire city of people in his copper hair. No kidding here guys, I saw this with my very own eyes.

I was so busy staring at Steven, when everybody in the truck gasped at the sight of a little kitten with a fish skeleton hole in its stomach.

Soon, the guide slowed to a stop at a friends festival. I never knew that this kind of stuff happened so close to my home, but supposedly this festival happens everyday of the year for twenty-four hours in the day. It is where a bunch of people line a fence and start shaking each others hands......Simple as that! Their were boys and girls, men and women, people in wheelchairs, and small pets. I couldn't believe my eyes.

Well, we left the festival and moved onward to the wetlands. The guide gave us 3-D glasses, and upon putting them on...I saw a HUGE turtle right alongside the road. I felt like I could reach out and touch it, but that is what the glasses were for.

The guide said that we were only half-way done with the tour. Suddenly, he slammed on the brakes....everybody was flung to the front of the car. Upon overcoming the shock of the sudden change in pace, we saw a big cloud of dust on the windshield. All of this was due to a stampede of three horses galloping as fast as they could away from a gorilla across the road sitting next to a girl with a butterfly on her leg.

It turns out, that because we slammed on the brakes so hard....some bangin' and clangin' was happenin' under da hood, so we had to stop with the tour and take the Rover to the shop. On the way to the shop I noticed that Ooltewah's new zoo is still under construction. Their was a carpenter fooling around, and instead of hammering a nail into a fence...he was trying to fling his hammer at a skilled marksman standing on the fence trying to shoot an arrow into the air.

Cache information:

If you think that this story was made up, then I suggest that you come and find the cache. Everything that I described ACTUALLY IS at this site....minus the tour guide and his Land Rover.

You will be looking for a Lock-n-Lock container which contains a log on the back of the stashnote, a pen, and some stuffed animals.

Please replace everything like you found it....and tell about your experience at Ooltewah's new zoo!
