Geocache Description:

Three Bean Salad

This three-stage mystery cache is located along a gas line right-of-way near a hiking and horseback riding area off of Barnhartvale Road between the Eagle Point Golf Course and Buse Provincial Park.

The theme of this cache is tradable “Mighty Beanz.” IF YOU TRADE A BEAN YOU MUST PUT ANOTHER BEAN IN. There are other things in the cache, so, you may trade other things, but please leave an item if you take one.

Mighty Beanz are toys manufactured by Moose Enterprises, a corporation headquartered in Melbourne, Australia. Moose launched Mighty Beanz in Australia in 2002; the toy launched in the United States in summer, 2003. Mighty beanz still do a brisk business in the collectibles market, especially on online auction sites.

An individual Mighty Bean is a three dimensional capsule with small flat circular ends on either side and is approximately 2.5 cm long. Each Bean is decorated with a character's likeness -- usually an animal, a monster or a caricatured human. Besides the five main series of Mighty Beanz, Moose also produced licensed Beanz based on Marvel superheroes: The Simpsons, Pokémon, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The toys are hollow and contain small, dense, magnetic spheroids, which slide freely from end to end. A Mighty Bean can stand up on either end because the spheroid drops into whichever side is at the bottom.

When a Mighty Bean is placed on a slant, instead of simply sliding down, the it falls on its side, and the spheroid rolls down and up the other end. In doing this, the ball rolls slightly up the other side of the Mighty Bean, causing the centre of mass to shift away from the Mighty Bean's long base, making it fall over. It stands vertically for a moment, and repeats the process.

Mighty Moose also produced "Limited Edition Moose Beanz" that aren't included in the usual series numbering. The Limited Edition Beanz are extremely rare. Moose Enterprises also produced the rare "Mighty Moose Beanz," featuring the Moose Enterprises mascot. One thousand Mighty Moose Beanz were released in each country where Mighty Beanz were sold, color-coded for the country. For example, Australia's Mighty Moose Bean has a gold bottom, Canada's is red, the USA's is gray, and Korea's is purple. Moose Beans are very rare. More information is available at: (visit link)

Parking and stage 1, which has the coordinates for stage two, are at N 50 38.071, W 120 03.935. In order to find the cache (stage 3), you must decipher the “code” at stage 2. This code is not hidden—it is in plain sight. The total walking distance for all three stages is about 1 Km. With a little creative thinking, we know you can find this one.

The cache is an 800 ml lock-n-lock and when placed contained 20 Mighty Beanz, a mighty bean stand for the band group, and the usual trinkets. I will be checking the log book if you sy you find it.

FTF: The FTF will find a FTF geocoin that is trackable. You may take the coin without placing one but, you MUST PLACE IT IN ANOTHER CACHE, it is a real GeoCoin and not something to keep. Thank you.
